By now you have probably heard of or seen a sign that says "unplugged wedding" but what does that mean? With the growth of social media, it has become more commonplace to post images of the stuff that you do, events that you attend, and any major milestones in your life and so on in an effort to share this with friends via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and the list goes on.
This new trend has seen 31% of couples requesting to have unplugged weddings. It may be a bit of a difficult phenomenon to control for some in this age of technology. Wedding guests however should respect the couple's wishes as weddings are intimate affairs. Some reasons that couples cite for requesting this are having control over what and when images are posted for the general public to see. Couples have taken the time to create their guest list which includes friends and family who are dear to them. They wish for these loved ones to be present in the moment; not merely physically, to share this special moment with them. More importantly, the professional photographer whom they have hired will not have his shots compromised by guests getting in the way of the shot. The flash from guests' electronic devices may also construe the professional photographer's images thereby encouraging couples to request this new trend. Trust me no one wants to have a bunch of pictures that were paid for on such a special day to be spoiled. Guests need to be mindful of this.
