When planning a wedding, many vendors may be involved to provide all all of the necessary services to execute the event. But what happens when you bump heads with a wedding vendor? Even if you have selected what you deem to be the "perfect" wedding vendor, unwanted circumstances may still occur. Through all the stress that you may be dealing with, it is necessary to handle this in a professional manner. When these occurrences happen, terminating a contract may not be feasible as this may lead to serious financial or logistical consequences. So what do you do?
Firstly, maintain your composure and show respect in your interactions with vendors. Always remain calm and remember to communicate clearly and in a polite manner, your needs and expectations for your big day. More importantly, don't take it personally.
Secondly, document all interactions. Try to get as much as you can in terms of your contracts, in writing, and make copies. If this isn't possible then try having them sent via email as another great way to track negotiations. If you CC others they can act as your witness should things stray from the agreement.
This is a prime example of why having a wedding planner is so helpful. They act as a negotiator on your behalf.
